Iraq

Hello from Iraq.

So here I am, a 2LT in the Army, hanging out in Iraq. I graduated in January, wanted to volunteer for a tour, and here I am in Iraq. Amazing!

I am a Military Police Officer, but I am not a MP for this tour. I was trained to be part of a cultural advisor team. The idea is that the Army pays attention to cultural differences and nuances to avoid conflict and create a better working relationship with the local populace. Interesting idea...

Anyway, I've been here since September, and I'm having a great time. Oh, and while I was in training at Fort Leavenworth, KS, I met a civilian, fell in love , and got married! Holy cow!

Happy birthday to me today. I am now the oldest 2LT in the Army......or at least that's what everyone keeps telling me. I hope to get promoted in December. Woohoo!

You know, every base I've been to has a paintball field. But there are none here in Iraq. Hummmm....maybe I can go out and watch real paintball...with bullets. doh!

Anyway, I hope all is well in AZ. If you want to know what it's like here, walk outside and look around. Same weather, same monsoon season, same sandstorms...ok maybe the sandstorms are nuts here. But similar everything.

All hail the mighty 2LT; as he wages war and spreads understanding of Arabic culture throughout the Army and Marine Corps.

Hooah!

Holy cow, it's the oldest butter bar in the Army. How long is your tour? Post up an address so we can send you a care package. Remember to keep your head down, which I know will be tuff for you. Congrats on getting married. Be safe, BUS
